The truck driver was issued with a defect notice and the driver of the taxi was conveyed to hospital for observation.
The truck was travelling along Thornton Street approaching the intersection of Warne Street when the incident occurred at 10.50am.
“If these two didn’t have seat belts on God knows what would have happened,”
Manager of Wellington Radio Cabs John Pringle said of the passengers.
“This is the reason Wellington taxi drivers enforce seat belts.”
He said that while they wait to have the taxi replaced there would only be two cabs in operation: one maxi seven seater and one station wagon 4 seater.
