Councillor Anne Jones, in accepting her Order of Australia Medal, spoke about the unity and passion of her time as mayor and at the end of her thankyou to the community said she was going to fight for the Wellington Council to stand alone.

Her comments received a rousing applause from the crowd who came to see community members accept their awards for 2015.
However on Tuesday night, councillors were faced with the reality that Wellington has to meet financial benchmarks to be 'Fit For The Future' and so far it has only reached one of the seven needed.
Morrison Low, the company appointed to help Wellington become Fit For The Future, workshopped ideas with Wellington councillors and outlined the steps it has to do before it submits a proposal to the state government on June 30.
Cabonne Council has already looked to forming a regional entity with Blayney and Orange councils in a move which they say indicates all three councils would stand alone.
Councillors to a person and the community have said they want the Wellington Council to be their voice in local government, and the state government says it won't force a merger but speculation continues to mount that smaller councils won't survive after the nsw election in 2015.
The councillors will also discuss their feedback to the first workshop at tonight's Ordinary meeting.
