Mr Hawke received a Community Service Achievement Award.
"Danny puts in many hours to make sure the organisation is welcoming and appealing to all," MC Mark Griggs said.
"When the First Wellington Scouts opened about four years ago, the unit was in great need with only five children in attendance.
"This person's dedication and giving of an enormous amount of time and resources must really make the unit proud of having such a champion.
"The entire unit can now, not only stand alone, but is looking at opening a Joey and Venturer section for the first time in many years.
"And the entire;community now recognises and respects Scouts and Cubs when seen in public due to the dedication of Danny Hawke," he said adding that being a scout for many years, Danny took great pride in passing on the values and principals of the scouting movement as a leader to encourage and empower our youth."
