Cr Jones was awarded the honour for service to local government, and to the community of Wellington.
"To receive an OAM for my service to local government and to the Wellington Community is very humbling and at the same time a great honour," she said.
I was elected to local government in 1995 and have served our community for almost 20 years.''
Anne Jones became a councillor in 1995 and was deputy mayor from 1998 to 2005 and mayor from 2005 to 2012. Today she remains a councillor working with the community to strive for their goals.
She will also be honoured at Wellington's Australia Day ceremony.
"This Medal of the Order of Australia does not just belong to me, it belongs to all those who have supported me over this time and in particular the Community of Wellington.
"I would like to acknowledge the councillors who have served with me over this time and in particular those who worked side by side with me as a cohesive, passionate and committed team in the seven years that I was the mayor of Wellington," Cr Jones said.
"I would also like to thank those committee and board members who have served with me on the numerous committees over this time.
I could not have achieved any of this without the support of my husband, Peter Perry, who has been with me every step of the way.''
Cr Jones continues her community work with Maranatha, Westhaven, Geurie Lions, the Correctional centre, Gollan Fire Brigade among others.
"My journey has not yet ended and I look to the future to continue to serve you, my community'' she said.
