The area around Lake Burrendong turned into a small town over the holiday period and while numbers were below the usual State Park Manager Jason Kirk is pleased with the turn out.-
''The visitor numbers are a little soft with some intermittent weather and low water levels but for those who are here they appear to be having lots of fun. The 19% percent levels allow for all types of water sports from water skiing to fishing and swimming so its not a bother to most '' Mr Kirk said.-
Holiday goers baked in warm sunshine on Monday Michael and Carmen Cox from Dubbo enjoying the boating.-
''In a new boat I bought before Christmas and the kids are having a good time on the water here'' Mr Cox said. '' The fish are biting in a few places I here which is good''-
Orange visitors The Woodroofes and Morton's also lapped up the conditions with the swimming pool and water slide popular attractions.-
''We'll be spending New Years here. The kids like the variety of things they can do and its safe and secure'' the Morton family said.-
Mr Kirk said the site was locked down first thing on Wednesday to ensure the park campers can enjoy the experience. '' Our festivities were successful and everyone had a good time here. We are also promoting a big Australia Day weekend here'' he said.-
Police say there were no incidents to relate across the holiday period so far.
