Police say there are suspicious motives in relation to a fire which broke out on the banks of the Bell River near homes in the heart of Wellington on Monday night.

Police say eyewitnesses saw young people near the scene of the blaze which burn out at least 3 hectares of bushland near the river.
Fire brigades from all over the district worked on several sides of the Bell River when the fire began just after 6.30pm. Heavy rain probably helped fire fighters just after 8pm.
Wellington Senior sergeant Simon Madgwick said local police are conducting inquiries into the fire. ‘’We are concerned about the reports we have received and will be questioning people over the incident’’ he said.
It was the fourth fire in as many days. On Friday a fire at Uaamby road captured 80 hectares, Saturday another blaze burnt 3 hectares while another above Lake Burrendong took 40 hectares in rugged mountainous terrain.
Wellington senior sergeant Simon Madgwick praised the work of local bush fire brigade personnel who had worked hard to keep the district safe in the fallout from the spate of bushfires in the area.
Rain may temper any further outbreaks there is up to 40mm predicted through to Boxing Day.
