A fire at Uamby road near Twelve Mile Road about twenty minutes from Wellington was being controlled by a number of brigades from the rural fire service on Friday night.

The fire is reported to have begun at 4.15pm on Friday afternoon and by 6.30 had moved quickly burning out around 60 hectares of property and bushland it also was pushing to a nearby pine forest, the biggest concern for the fighters on hand who came from all over the area to be there.
Nearby farmhouse didn't appear to be under threat because of the quick action by the local brigades from Wellington, Goolma,Mt Arthur, Wuuluman, Spicers Creek and others.
At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown. But on Saturday morning the RFS reported the fire was under control.
The forecast is for 32 degrees in Wellington with light winds.
Rain is predicted every day till Boxing Day.
