The development will be in addition to the Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service and be run as a dental centre.
The plans of the proposal depict a two storey building with brick walls and colorbond roof.
The ground floor of the building would contain a total of four medical consulting rooms comprising two dental surgeries and two general consulting rooms for health care professionals. Also included are seven offices, a staff room, lab room sterilising area, plant room, storage and three toilets; two of which would be fully-accessible.
The first floor would be accessed by both lift and stairs. It would contain three offices, a meeting room, staff room, common room, storage and one fully-accessible toilet.
It is recommended to council that any consent to this application prohibit use as a drug and alcohol treatment service, such as a methadone clinic, without consideration of a further DA.
The issues over the development raised were:
- o the premises may include drug and alcohol treatment services
- o parking
- o overlooking
- o notification
- o condition of New Street
- o adequacy of water mains
- o issues to do with the other development at 5 New Street.
There is a recommendation by the council's Planning Services Department to give the development the go ahead with conditions applied.
