The Redfern family star in Wellington cricket

In the first game the newest team to the comp team Redfern took on the seasoned veterans of the Farmers team.

The Redfern team batted first and scored a very respectful 141 from their 20 overs. The major contributors with the bat were the two opening batsmen, with WA Redfern who scored 25 and MC Redfern who top scored with 56.

For the farmers the best bowler was Hugh Morris who got 3-10 from his two overs including a hat trick which started at the end of his first over and went into his second over.

The Farmers innings in reply to the Redfern's got off to a bad start with the team quickly 3 down for only 37 runs, however, Sam Barton (49 no) attempted to lead a middle order revival but tight bowling from the Redfern's and a constant stream of wickets meant that the Farmers never really threatened with the bat and ended up falling 10 runs short of the total set by the Redfern's.

The best of the bowlers for the Redfern's was Bart Redfern who got 2- 21 from three overs and C. Ridley who took 2-12 from his two overs.

The second game of the weekend which saw Amaroo play Geurie had a scoring discrepancy and at the time of writing there had been no resolution to report on for this game.

On Sunday October 26 the Wellington representative side was due to face Forbes in the

Representative Game - Country Cricket NSW McDonalds KO, however, the Forbes side could not get a team together and had to forfeit on the morning of the game which meant Wellington has now progressed into the third stage of the competition.

The next Rep game is scheduled in the Macquarie Valley Brewery Shield Comp, for Sunday November 9 and the next Cricket NSW McDonalds KO game is scheduled for the following Sunday which is November 17 and will be against a team in the Western Zone.
