This first weekend of competition saw Farmers taking on the Amaroo Peckers in the first game. The Farmers won the toss and elected to bat first, and they started off in fine form with Dugald Campbell hitting the 3rd ball of the game for 6 runs, however, after this initial burst it was mainly a downhill slop for Farmers with only two batsmen getting into double figures and the highest scorer being the errant bowlers of Amaroo who notched up 26 extras allowing the Farmers to notch a score of 88 all out. The best of the Amaroo bowlers was Tim Simons with 2 for 8 from two overs.
The Amaroo chase got off to a horrible start losing both opens in the space of three overs with both scoring zero. However, the farmers were their own worst enemy from this point onwards dropping numerous catches and as a result the Amaroo side never really looked troubled with Nathan Carroll scoring 38 and Adam Burton 31 runs to ensure Amaroo would record an easy win by six wickets. The best of the bowlers for Farmers was Lachlan Campbell with 2 for 15 from two overs.
The second game of the weekend saw Western Riot pitted against Geurie. Geurie was to bat first and were able to score at a good clip during their innings and amassed a respectful total of 5/129 with the best of their batsmen being Tim Iverach with 57 and James Mcgrath with 37. The best of the Western Riot bowlers was Brian Dutfield with 2 for 6 of two overs and Brittany Owens with 2 for 11 off her two overs.
The Western Riot innings got off to a cracker of a start with Brian Dutfield showing that he can bat and bowl by hitting a 6 of the 5th ball of the innings. From the Brain (26) and his opening partner Danny Pullbrook (37) were able to set a great platform for their team by sharing in a 54 run opening stand which set up a comfortable win for the Riot who were able to score 5/139 from 19 overs to The other notable score for the Riot was the man on debut Varon Prabhakar who scored who scored 26 runs. However, ultimately it was errant bowling from the Geurie team who shipped 31 extras which allowed Riot to win the game.
