"The Chariot racing is ready to go. We have tested the chariots in a training run and the track is fast and the machines are flying," Geurie Lions Club's Peter Perry said.
Tug O War experts Bill Blatch and Ken Pocknall held tight on the rope confident contestants would hold strong and Bev Cameron president of the CWA tempted the group with some scones for the Great Scone Bake Off.
"I think it has got them very keen these scones," she said.
SpringFest president Ian law said the community had really come together for the event. "There are more than a 100 stalls for the events at the showground with something for everyone from the kids to the big kids," he said.
"From the showground the action moves to Cameron Park for the busking and the picnic in the park and the convict re-enactment which will be hosted by Christina Henri.
"The Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum's Spring Open Day and Plant Sale is going to be large as well Sunday, with bush bands, guided insect and bird walks, kids activities."
All the money raised goes back into a community fund to be distributed for events in the town. The Times will have a gallery of Saturday's action all day on its website and there is a video of the Chairot racing trackwork at www.wellingtontimes.com.au.
