If so, Wellington SpringFest will be providing people with the opportunity to experience this through the Lions Gold Cup Chariots for Charity competition.
The competition is open to anyone aged 16 years and older with people asked to form a team of three to enter - one driver and two horses (people pulling the chariot along).
Wellington SpringFest chairman Ian Law said while it may not be exactly the same as in ancient Rome, the competition was sure to provide competitors with a great story to tell.
"This is the first time we have hosted such a competition as part of our SpringFest activities and I thank the Lions Clubs of Geurie and Wellington for creating the event. We are really looking forward to it," Mr Law said.
"We are fortunate in that local business Brennan's Welding has custom made the chariots for us and they are absolutely fantastic.
"Now all we need are teams to sign up for this competition. We believe this would be a great challenge for sporting clubs, business houses, community groups or even just some rivalry between groups of friends."
The winners of the Lions Gold Cup Chariots for Charity Competition will walk away with $100 as well as the perpetual gold cup, while $50 will be awarded for second prize and $25 for third prize.
There will also be a $50 bonus prize for the best dressed team with teams encouraged to dress in Roman chariot or horse racing gear.
"Team members are also asked to raise money for their team through sponsorship with all funds raised going to the Wellington SpringFest Community Grant Fund," Mr Law said.
The team who raises the most money will not only take home a perpetual trophy but will also win a meal for two people at a local restaurant."
The Lions Gold Cup Chariots for Charity Competition will be held as part of the SpringFest activities at the Wellington Showground on Saturday, September 28. Pre-registration will be held from 9am to 10am with the first race kicking off at about 10.30am.
