"We are very proud of Kiyan. He shows respect and we'll be in the stands cheering for him on Sunday,'' his father Zeke Shaw said.
Dubbo CYMS will face Forbes who will be favourites for the big match after the Fishies defeated Macquarie in a nail-biting finish on Sunday in Wellington.
"We are confident despite just getting over Macquarie last week. It will be great to play in the grand final for Dubbo CYMS who have been fantastic to me in my final match,'' he said.
Kiyan is heading to the Canberra Raiders next year - he was handpicked by scouts at an All Schools Carnival in Newcastle.
"We selected Kiyan for his speed and his willingness to compete in attack and defence. Kiyan also did not shy away from the contact side of the game," Canberra Raiders' high performance manager Dave Hamilton said.
Kiyan's father said the Raiders journey would be exciting for the talented 17 year old.
"He will be living with a family of one of the players and he is a great representative for Aboriginals and will have the support of the whole community. He likes the Raiders and because the club has a country feel it was always his first option,'' he said.
"He's a quiet kid. He just sits back and takes it all in and reaching this level is brilliant but the grand final for his team-mates and club is his main priority now,'' Mr Shaw said.
