Geurie became the centre of national attention on Saturday multi national fast food company McDonald's using the small town to launch it's MONOPOLY Community Chest Card promotion.

It was supported by an online production of a documentary on small towns and why their great and also Channel Nine's Today Show weather presenter Emma Freedman anchored her segments from the Geurie Showground on Saturday morning.
Former Wallaby rugby union full back Matt Burke joined the event to help the Geurie Goats win their first match since 2013. In a special rugby match against Graincorp Cup grand finalists Yeoval. Geurie did win with help from a number of Eastwood first grade players from the Sydney competition.
"It was great to be able to rally a group of the state's leading club players, head west and help the Geurie Goats get a win on the board. There were plenty of tackles and tries as well as a lot of laughs from not just the team, but also the whole community. Everyone had a great time and definitely enjoyed the win," Burke said.
McDonald's Australia, Chief Marketing Officer, Mark Lollback commented: "With the launch of the MONOPOLY at McDonald's game just around the corner, we wanted to make sure as many Aussies as possible - even those in a town that hasn't had a win in a while - are in a winning frame of mind.
"We've had a great time helping Geurie to start winning and with nearly $120 million in prizes up for grabs when the MONOPOLY at McDonald's game launches next month, we're hoping Geurie's wins this weekend are just the start of a winning feeling that spreads right around the country," Lollback said
Locals won prizes including family holidays and electricity bills on the day.
