Harold Williams was a local Aboriginal man from Wellington who loved and cherished playing the game of golf before his unfortunate passing due to cancer. -

His son Todd Williams said that in its third year the event brought in a lot more sponsorship and interest with well over 50 people taking part in the good cause.-

"He would have been very proud, especially now that it is going to be an annual event." Mr Williams said.-

Harold's son Darren Williams said that he would have been very happy to know that so many people had taken to the annual event to raise more awareness about cancer.-

"It is a day for his friends who were golfers to show respect. He was very keen at golf and he won a lot of championships around NSW."-

"The focus is on healthy life and golf involves a lot of walking. It is also a memorial day through which we can provide support to sufferers."-

"This event brings together local and regional Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal men, women and young people to celebrate the spirit and life of Harold Williams, as well as celebrating the significance of promoting and improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal people through sport."-

"It is a sport which any individual can participate in, no matter how young or how old. It is also a sport which is being highly promoted among Aboriginal communities to encourage social and mental well-being."
