Wellington has won $2.9 million of projects in the fund including money for stage three of the CBD beautification, the Wellington Caves and Rygate sports complex along with a major boost for the showground.-

This means when opportunities arise like the Cobbora transition fund, we are well placed to gain financial backing.'' Cr Buhr said.-
The state member for Orange Andrew Gee said the projects will provide both economic and tourism benefits to the Wellington community.-
"Funding like this doesn't come around very often and I believe that these projects will make a real difference to the lives of people in our region," Mr Gee said.-
"I'm hoping these projects will really give Wellington a good lift and shot in the arm," Mr Gee said.-
"I'd also like to think these projects will lift spirits and boost pride in this great town."-
Cr Buhr said the Council can get to work now on driving the CBD project which he says he will make an economic difference to the town.-
''It means now that Council has over half the funding required for the CBD beautification project which once competed will revitalise the town's centre.-
New look facades and signage will also showcase the town's progressive image,Wellington Business services's Danielle Anderson said following a funding boost of $ 350,000-
Danielle Anderson Director of Wellington Business Services said "I have been so determined to assist Wellington, our businesses, events and community. The perception of Wellington is that it is a tired town, the fact is so different to this. We have a vibrant, caring community with fantastic businesses and dedicated community groups all working together to create the best community to live in and visit.''-
''The project will be a collaboration with TAFE and local job service providers to deliver a 26 week pre-apprenticeship course for local people. They will be learning on the job skills that are needed to deliver painting, sign writing, plumbing and building. It is hoped that locals will enjoy their course and sign up for a full certificate in their chosen trades. "We already have 7 businesses signed up for this project" said Ms Anderson..-
For the Wellington Caves there is also great news Cr Buhr said. The Caves will receive $740,000. New purpose built 2 to 3 bedroom cabins and better directional signage will preceed. -
''This injection of funds into the Wellington caves will see a modernisation of facilities, stamping it as a premier tourist destination in the central west.'' Cr Buhr said-
While the Rygate sports complex will be supercharged with $800,000 for a much needed redevelopment.-
Local sports authority Marie Cornish says the Rygate injection is great news.-
''This is fabulous news for the sports complex and hopefully we can also get funding for lighting there as well'' Mrs Cornish said.-
''Sport is a very important facet of Wellington community life and having modern facilities will greatly improve the towns appeal as a sporting hub within the region.'' Cr Buhr said.-
Wellington Show Society president Danielle Anderson says funding of more than $338,000 for the Showground is a major step forward. -
''This is a fantastic project for Wellington Show Society who have partnered with Wellington Vintage Fair, Wellington Race Club and Macquarie Poultry Club." said Danielle Anderson, President Wellington Show Society.-
''There will be improvements to the toilet facilities, a new poultry shed and improvements to the Grandstand function room.'' she said-
The Olympic swimming pool, rural roads and the Wellington Wiradjuri Cultural centre didn't win the backing of the panel's recommendations.-
Mr Gee said that he hoped that unsuccessful applicants would continue to seek alternate funding for their proposals.-
"There were some really worthwhile projects that didn't attract funding and I'm just sorry we couldn't do all of them," Mr Gee said.-
The state member for Dubbo Troy Grant said.-
'' A couple that we were really keen to pursue were the Wiradjiri tourist opportunities at Wellington and Dubbo and we will be working with those communities to further progress those into funding realities.'' he said.-
The NSW Government's $20 million Restart NSW Cobbora Transition Fund was established to create infrastructure that drives economic growth and productivity in the region.-
