8.55am: Don't forget next Monday will be an amazing experience for local rugby union fans with the Wallabies arriving. The national team will host an open training session at Caltex Park at 2.30pm so make sure you come along and wish the boys good luck in their hunt for the Bledisloe Cup.
8.45am: It's time to have a look at famous birthdays around the world for August 1 and today we wish a happy 50th birthday to rapper Coolio. He shot to fame in 1996 with the hit "Gangsta's Paradise" and is currently touring Australia.
He will be appearing at Canberra on Monday and last month he weighed in on some of the city's biggest issues. Definitely worth a look.
8.35am: Here's a quick look at what's been happening for our Aussies at the Commonwealth Games.
* After being publicly criticised by team coach, Eric Hollingsworth, Sally Pearson has blitzed the field in her heats of the 110m hurdles.
* Angie Ballard won Australia's first gold on day eight, finishing first in the para-sport women's T54 1500m while Carcoar's Kurt Fearnley finished with a silver.
* On the medal table England has now moved eight golds ahead of Australia. They sit on top with 44 gold while 36 of our 113 medals so far have been gold. We're nine clear of Canada while the hosts, Scotland, sit fourth.

* NATIONAL: Hours of pain-staking negotiations with Ukrainian forces and separatist rebels pared the time that the first Australian investigators – just two of them – could spend at the MH17 crash site to just 85 minutes.
* NATIONAL: The federal government is expected to ditch one of its most controversial budget measures - the plan to apply real interest rates to student debts - following advice from the architect of the HECS repayment scheme that it is unfair to poor graduates.

* DUBBO: Local hockey players were given a rare treat earlier this week when they took part in training clinics run by local representative star Samuel Mould and French international player Maxence Lecointe.
* NARROMINE: It's a big week for rugby in our region with the Wallabies visiting Dubbo on Monday but on Saturday night Trangie local, Pat McCutcheon will be part of the Waratahs team playing in the Super Rugby Grand Final against the Crusaders.
* DUBBO: Dubbo Kangaroos coach Paul Hennock admits revenge is firmly in his players' minds as the Blowes Clothing Cup leaders prepare for Saturday's match against the Forbes Platypi.

*DUNEDOO: Dunedoo residents are celebrating after being awarded more than $6.3 million worth of funding for projects aimed at securing the town’s long term future.
*DUBBO: Jordan Hurkett, a young Dubbo man who worked with Dene Broadbelt on preparations for the failed Infinity Festival is owed almost $3000 in wages by the alleged conman.
*NARROMINE: Central West local, Kayla Kopp, has won the lamb section in the recent 25th Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging competition.
*DUBBO: Former Dubbo solicitor, the Honourable Justice Derek Michael Price AM, has been appointed Chief Judge of the District Court of NSW.
