Wellington Christian School principal Sarah Strahorn said the Eisteddfod played a vital role in the education of young children, especially when it came to discipline, participation and building confidence.
"It also helps them to see that giving back to the community is very important - and it's just good fun," she said.
Ms Strahorn said that while being on stage gave the students a moment of discomfort, it was a chance to overcome their nerves and do well.
"It gives those who don't necessarily excel academically a time to shine.
"You feel proud watching them, they have their jiggles and wiggles, but it's nice to be a part of the community and we really appreciate the work the volunteers do to put the eisteddfod on."
