Under 13s lined up at Montefiores on Saturday taking on a highly favoured Narromine side that have not lost a single game all season. Our boys cared nothing for reputations and ran on the field determined to give it everything they had right from the start. The big Redback forward pack led by Harry the powerhouse Powyer and Eli Cox slammed into the Narromine line time after time and whenever one of our boys went to ground a wave of Redback forwards surged through the breakdown, providing clean ball for the backs. Alex Brien was at his crafty best ably assisted by Jarrod Scott but no matter what they conjured up they were unable to crack Narromine's rock solid on line defence. Wellington managed to hold the Narromine side scoreless for 20 minutes but eventually succumb to superior opposition, a couple of quick tries left the visitors in front 12 nil at the break. Narromine showed why they are on top of the ladder dominating the second, half our boys however did not give up and played good rugby right until the final whistle blew. The Wellington coaching staff unanimously agreed that the way the boys played in the first half had been the best football they had played all season and an even bigger compliment came from the Narromine coach who claimed the Wellington pack were the hardest his team had faced all year. Final score Narromine 38 Wellington nil. Sam McCarroll 3 points Mitch Vernon 2 points Nick Keirle 1 point

Under 15s travelled to Forbes unfortunately going down 23 to 17
The under 17s were out to turn around the last few weeks of poor form and the crowd saw what the team are capable of when they play as team. Shannon Mitchell has gone from strength to strength this season and is really enjoying his footy, he made no mistake and blindsided the Narromine defensive line to score in the opening minutes of the game. Narromine restarted and Luke Rodgers ploughed through leaving Narromines forwards suitably shaken. It only took a couple of phases for Zac McManus to exploit a gap and put the first of his two tries on the board. Props Frog Stanley and Matt Maher are a sight to behold when they hit the ball up and their work in breakdown was solid. Frogs stampeding runs left a trail of victims flailing. Nash Forgione was the next to add to the score line and he decided he would have a crack at converting his try. Lucky he scored under post as he potted it through without too much trouble. Mackenzie Tierney has been sick for a few weeks but he is near back to his best and charged through to score. Narromine were now officially in a tailspin unable to stem the try fest the Redbacks were inflicting. Harry May was also at his scintillating best turning Narromine inside out with his stepping ability. He danced around his would be tacklers to put the ball down under the posts. The change from soccer to union may have caused a stir in the Reid house but the team is lucky to have Brad as he has well and truly stamped his name on rugby cementing a try before half time and another one just before full time. Lachlan Styles got in just before half time and with Harry May's conversions the score was 43-0 at the break. After a quick rest a few words of encouragement from Red and Mano the boys dug in to practice some rehearsed moves. Jordan Evison is settling into the 5/8 role well and directs the backline with conviction. Sam Hunt is the player every coach wants in their team. He works hard and isn’t afraid to do the hard yards. Henry Redfern was a welcome return to the team and he made his presence felt. In one ruck a Narromine player came flying out the back of ruck being flung 3 metres backwards. Not to be outdone Tom Redfern came flying out the same ruck with one bewildered Narromine forward wondering what had hit him. The brothers combine well in the forwards I just feel For Chis and Agnes when the boys decided to “practice” in family lounge room. With the trademark Henry burst of speed he scooted up the sideline to score. Half back Tom Swainston has not held back stepping up into the next level of competition this year and although he is a junior in the team he plays with skill beyond his years. His draw and pass ability splits the defence line time after time and he sets up plenty of tries but Tom put points on the board himself this time. The Narromine side were dropping like flies unable to stop the charge of the determined Wellington side. Funnily enough the only points Narromine were able to put on the board were via Wellingtons Shannon Mitchell who volunteered to play for them. This provided some good entertainment with Shannon taking a little too much delight in tacking his team mates. The team were gelling well and Brayson Gillies not to be left out also added to the account. Brad Reid topped up the account with some skilled conversions. The final score was 67-5. The boys played well but will need to keep up their intensity heading into the gritty end of the season
