Fourteen year-old Meg Smith was one of five Wellington students to take part in National Dance Week, held at McDonald College in Sydney.
She stood out for her skill in all dance genres and was chosen by the principal to take part in a week's free tuition at the January summer school next year where she will get to work on ballet, jazz, modern and pas de deux.
Twelve year old Leilani Herbertson recently went to Forbes Eisteddfod where she competed in the 14 and under section, winning both the classical and modern solo as well as placing in her other classes.
She entered the competition for the open age girls' scholarship against 16 and 17 year olds and while she didn't win the scholarship she was picked as one of just five finalists.
"We feel very proud of them," principal of the Wellington Dance Academy Doreen Thompson said.
"We realise it's all their own ability, but it's also receiving the correct tuition to get there and seeing it come to fruition is lovely."
"To see any of our students improving makes us happy and proud and it's lovely they're doing that sort of thing at such a young age."
Doreen Thompson said there was a lot of talent in the town and that she was looking forward to seeing both girls take part in the Wellington Eisteddfod.
"Obviously if people are willing to put in work there's plenty of talent here and they can achieve whatever they work for."
