The Cowboys lost the game yesterday against Dubbo Macquarie 70/10 with six of the regular first grade players out.
While spokesperson for the Cowboys, Ray Fabar expected a tough game, he said it was no mean feat working with just half the side and he was impressed with the performance of juniors Luke Healy, Lewis Stanley and RJ Merritt.
“They worked over and above what was expected of them and they were a credit to the club when they showed up and took over for the first graders,” Mr Fabar said.
“Forwards Paul Black and Troy Osbourne also did well with their kicks, but we were outclassed by Dubbo Macquarie who are the competition leaders.”
This places the Cowboys at fifth in the competition ready for the first semi final game against Nyngan in two weeks.
Next week the Cowboys will be playing Parkes on home turf and are working on their defence and ball handling skills in the lead up.
All three grades were beaten by Dubbo Macquarie. The under 18s lost 32/16 and the reserves 24/6, but Mr Fabar wasn’t fazed.
“I’m confident that we will come back stronger than before.”
