Bashed man tells his story

A MAN bashed with an iron bar says he was shocked and violated when two young men wearing hoods invaded his home while he was asleep.

Ian McPherson, 56, is working with police to identify the pair and detectives are appealing for any public information and say they have thrown their full resources at apprehending the men.

"My nose is broken, my cheek bone is fractured, my hand is broken I thought I was okay but then I began to feel worse. I feel terrible right now," Mr McPherson said from his hospital bed.

"I was asleep and I heard a rattle at the door and then they bashed their way through and began to thrash me. I couldn’t believe it was happening.

"I believe it was over drugs. There is too much of that drug ice around.

"I am very upset and this is a terrible thing to do someone."

The local man was assaulted during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Police said in a statement that two males wearing "hooded clothing" forced open the door of the Arthur street house about 12.20am.

"They used a crowbar and demanded I hand over my wallet. I contacted ‘000’ they had run off before I could do anything," Mr McPherson said.

The offenders are described as 18-20 years of age. One was reported to be wearing a blue hooded jumper, and the other offender reported to be wearing a black hooded jumper.

Any member of the Wellington community who has information is asked to contact the Dubbo Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
