The Wellington Redbacks won Saturday’s match against Mudgee’s number 2 side after the visitors failed to turn up with a full side.
But the match went on with Wellington handing the Mudgee side some of its players to ensure both sides ‘could have a run’ Redbacks Coach Chris George.
The match was refereed by Evelyn George of Coolah who is the only woman official in the area and had been organized to ref the game before the forfeit.
Wellington led the practice match 30 nil at half time despite some gritty efforts from the Mudgee defence bolstered by two of the Redback’s biggest forwards going on to win 55-nil.
Yeoval took the Mudgee side to the end but were beaten 29-21.
The result means Trangie who beat 24-15 remain on top followed Mudgee (1) and Wellington.
Wellington's All Aged soccer team was also successfull coming from behind to beat Dubbo Westside Panthers to remain in second spot on the top grade ladder.
