It’s the first time the Dubbo College South Campus has achieved gold in the state knockout triples for bowls and
the success comes back to the effort of three Wellington brothers.
They were among 500 competitors in NSW who went up against the top 16 in the state.
For Trent (16), Keeden (15) and Ryan (14) McGuire, the semi finals were tough and the team only won by a shot.
They then went on to win the finals 26/13.
The boys started playing bowls five years ago with their father Heath McGuire and since then they have been hooked.
Mr McGuire says that the appeal of the game comes back to the constant challenge to better yourself each time.
In the second week of the school holidays they will be joined by their sister Keely, also an accomplished bowler, to play in Warilla in the zone finals.
