John Bullock stepped up to receive Rotary’s most famous prize the the Paul Harris Award with emotions high.
“I get very emotional, this is very special,” Mr Bullock said.
Outgoing president Glenn Porter talked of his wonderful dedication to the Western Care Lodge and his leadership as the driver of the campaign to raise money for it.
Wellington has raised more than $70,000 so far.
“I realised the great benefits of this and some special people who are part of it,” the cancer survivor said, embracing a standing ovation for his unrelentling work.
Mr Bullock continues to work for the lodge.
He said the combination between Rotary and Lions resulted in a local John Finn becoming one of the recipients of the lodge at Orange.
