White Crane Gongfu closed

Yes you are reading this right!

We recently closed the doors on our “MARSTA” or Senior Gongfu Classes! We closed the doors of our Wu Dao Tang Training Hall for one week pending a decision regarding the future of our continued operations and approach to training. This allowed all current memberships to be made null and void allowing us to separate the chaff (time-wasters) from the wheat (those prepared to train, grow and take this art forward).

It has been decided to operate our Senior White Crane Gongfu Classes on a strictly “Closed Door” basis. “Closed Door” means that you cannot just rock on up off the street and join in the training.

If you feel you want to learn what we teach in our Senior MARSTA Classes then you will have to apply in person, filling out an application form which will then be taken to the group for discussion and acceptance or refusal.

This is to maximise the potential development and training of each individual student so that we can produce an even higher quality student and dynamic training environment.

Our “Kindy Kungfu” (5 to 7 years) and Junior or "Kungfu 4 Kids" (& years & upwards) Classes will continue to be open to the general public..

Congratulations to young Emily and Grace Jacobson in achieving their Junior Black Sashes recently! The girls assist with the instruction at our Junior Classes showing others what can be achieved with dedication and a little effort!

Congratulations also to Helen Palmer who travels from Gulgong to train with us on reaching her Yellow Sash level and local guy Wayne Jacobson on his re4cent promotion to Green Sash.

Tan Zan Tai Chi and Qigong Classes continue to be popular with teacher Michael Reece offering Classes each Saturday Morning at 10.00am for a gold coin donation. You can contact Michael on: 0401 011 115 or email at mikal19@mail.com for further information.

In order to cater for the interest of the younger people in Wellington, we have introduced a new “Kindy Kungfu” Class open to those 5 to 7 years. We also offer our popular “Kungfu 4 Kids” (7years and upwards).

A recent psychological study found that children in martial arts have an increased sense of responsibility, a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks, and a higher sense of self-esteem. This is why millions of parents are using martial arts to supplement their children’s education. It’s a positive outlet for the kids and their energy. Maybe you have a son or daughter who would like to take up training for extra confidence, to develop self-discipline and take part in a fun and rewarding activity. One that beats the bully and keeps them healthy at the same time.

Being the only Chinese Gongfu School in the whole Central West our Training Hall is packed to the brim with exciting training equipment ranging from hanging full body dummies to Wooden Man dummies, a large variety of focus mitts and striking pads, Jigsaw mats, an abundance of Traditional Chinese Weapons and our newest addition, a complete Traditional Chinese Lion Dancing Kit. In fact our training hall is one of the best you’ll find this side of the Blue Mountains

Congratulations to home grown locals Joel Galea and Kellsey Melhuish On a terrific promotion for the town. Joel recently defended his Boxing title and is to be congratulated for bringing such events to Wellington instead of taking them to other towns and cities! Promoting our town and its home grown talent is a big thing and one I feel there should be more of. Wellington has produced some truly great people all of whom give of their lives to contribute to the community! Joel is, I believe hard at work setting up his “Hardnox” Gym at which he will contribute to the positive growth of our young people.

Growing out of the “Martial Arts, Health & Fitness Festival” we held in March has been our special “Circle of Knowledge Class Swap’. To date two class swaps have been held with Dubbo Taekwondo Master Kym Housden visiting our local school to take a class followed my myself teaching at her school in Dubbo. These class swaps have proven to be such a success that we now have future class swaps lined up for July, October and November with Kim Macrae of iKiFit/Subak Martial Arts and Andrew McKay of Chizen Taekwondo joining in!
