Golf was washed out at Wellington last weekend.

This has resulted in last Saturday’s fixture now scheduled for play tomorrow.

The Wellington Soldiers’ Memorial Club sponsored June Monthly Medal will be played for.

It is an individual stroke as well as round 7 of the F & J Gersbach Trophy.

On Sunday, the annual Wellington Mowers and Chainsaws Par 3 Open Championships will be played.

This fun event is played over 27 holes and with trophies for A, B and C grades best scratch and best handicap scores everyone stands a chance.

Work continues on repairs to the course following several flooding events that occurred in 2010/11.

Recently Andrew Gee MLA, Member for Orange announced $43,000 in funding to the club to reimburse expenditure towards repairing the course.

Several greens and fairways were damaged though extended periods of inundation. Gratitude is extended to our local state member and his staff for their untiring efforts in assisting the club through this much needed funding.

Next week’s event is a four ball aggregate stableford sponsored by Gary Holding and Robert Baker. Round 2 of the Cornish Trophy is also due to be played next week.
