Reconciliation work marked

A certificate of appreciation was awarded to the Wellington Community for participation in the development of the Strengthening the Aboriginal Community Wellbeing Toolkit which was devised to bridge the gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in the Wellington community.

Gallangabang member Joyce Williams received the award from Minister for the Environment and Minister for Heritage, Robyn Parker.

She said that a lot had been achieved in Wellington with regard to reconciliation - especially during the past several years.

At the ceremony, groups from across the state recognised Wellington as a leader in bridging the gap.

Mayor Anne Jones said that it was a proud moment for Wellington and the Aboriginal Community Working Party to be recognised by many for

their work towards reconciliation.

The award will be displayed in the Council foyer.
