King on target for title

Steve King took the honours in the annual championship shoot at Fashions Mount Range with riflemen vying for the prestigious National Rifle Association Medal as well as four perpetual trophies.

The event was held on May 6 over 2 x, 500 and 600 ranges.

The McLeod Cup is shot with handicap, while the Kosciusko Trophy is off rifle.

The McLeod Cup was first presented to the rifle club in 1907 by Murdock McLeod. The Kosciusko Cup was donated by the Jones family in 1934.

The Fashions Mount Cup and Field Rifle Trophy was introduced in 2005 as perpetual trophies for another two divisions.

Mick Cubillo was the winner of the McLeod Cup. Steve King top scored off rifle for the Kosciusko Cup.

In F Class, Ben Profke won the Fashions Mount Trophy in front of Brian Littlehales and Ray Galea.

Field Class went to Thornton Brown, Mark Inwood and Graham Pope.

The winners will now represent Wellington at Mudgee in June for district selection before shooting in Sydney in July.
