Of the eight Wellington High School students who participated in the Bangara dance workshop in Dubbo, three are audition hopefuls for Bangara 2012.
Aboriginal education officer Joan Willie said it was the second year Wellington High School students had gone to the workshop to study dance with professional choreographers.
“It was great that the kids could finally work with these professionals,” she said.
They are currently waiting for confirmation, but if picked, the students will get to go to Sydney for workshops, perform in Sydney dance festivals and take part in the school spectacular with Bangara. The workshops will focus on contemporary and traditional Aboriginal dance from across Australia.
