A different Sunday for community

With guests like Sally Bryant of ABC Radio and Marie Cornish, recognised for her involvement with youth through sport, Something Different Sunday at St Patrick’s Church, was sure to be spectacular.

“You always want these things to be bigger and to reach more people,” parish priest, Father Tony Hennessy, said.

For its first year though, Father Hennessy was pleased to see so many people come to the mass and fete to raise money for the PCYC.

“It’s about bringing the church and community together and reinforcing the idea that church can be fun,” he said.

Ms Bryant said that for her the idea was as much about community involvement as it was about fundraising.

“I love Wellington and it’s beautiful that a thing like this raises money for the PCYC,” she said, adding that after buying three linen tea towels and a particularly nice spring role, what more could you want?
