Round one off to good start

The first weekend of the competition is out of the way and most things ran smoothly.

Thank you to everyone who pitched in and helped last weekend making lighter work for everyone. I hope the momentum continues to make our competition an enjoyable event for everyone.

Last week’s games

Under 6s

Leprechauns (A) 4 defeated the Nanima Ninjas (I) 3. With only four players the green team showed great teamwork and promise with Harry O'Donnell (2) and William Dimmick (2) showing the experience gained last season, while Shawn Mason and Sarah Elward show much promise. Nanima Ninjas Ed Riley (2) and Brock Stanley (1) were on a mission with Bailey Toomey, Wade Hynch and Callee Black defending hard.

Knights (B) 0 were defeated by the Blue Tongues (H) 7. Knights played a good tight game with Blue Tongues Isaiah Hill (5) strong on the ball.

Devils (C) 0 were defeated by the Panthers (G) 5. Devils Ryan Hyde and Lochlan George ran the ball well while Panthers Shep Taylor (2) Tyrone Antaw (1) and Taylor Johnson (2) attacked well.

Tiny Terrors (D) 2 were defeated by the Rockets (F) 6. Abra Wilson (2) followed on with some good form from last season. Rockets had an amazing start to the season with some great goals from Will Taylor (3) Abbey Kiss (1) and Charlie Kiss (2). Some great defence was on display from Kayden O’grady,

Sam Burbage and Stella Maroulis.

Comets (E) 2 defeated the Bulldogs (J) 1, with the Comets playing well. Preston Donavon, Cameron Whale, Lily Behsman, Isaac Brown, Freya Conn and Oliver Hughes had great games. Oliver Stevens (1) and Hunter Anderson (1) scored good goals. Bulldogs Max Mason hit the mark on his first game of the season.

Under 8s

Blues (A) 4 defeated Red Flames (B) 2, in a good game. Both team were very competitive and showed great sportsmanship. Blues Rhys Conn (4) and Red Flames Kye Hynch (2) found the mark.

Scorpions (C) 9 defeated the Buffalos (D) 1. Scorpions Artie Taylor (2) Ruston Taylor (2) Kimberley Trappett (2) and Jack Owens (3) dominated the game.

Stripey Strikers (E) 1 were defeated by the Mad Dogs (F) 2. Well done to the Stripey Strikers. Toby Maroulis (1) was sharp on target and played well in goalie. Big efforts from Dan Keirle and Bridgette Carney. Thank you to Douglas Phillipson and Ella James for filling in for the Mad Dogs this week with Jayden Fox (1) and Jorja Lees playing well.

Under 10s

Wellington Tigers(A) 0 were defeated by Blue Fire (B) 5. Isaac Woldhuis was great in goal for the Tigers, while Gavin Rich, Nic Redfern and Jade Widdison were strong in defence. Holly Whelan and Charlie Pascoe put in a great effort. Jack Jones (4) George Parkes and Craig Wheatley (1) were strong in attack while Jacqui Ryan played her position well. Hew Jones, Ben Moreton and Thomas Hawke were fantastic in defence.

Purple Ferrari (C) 1 were defeated by the Ozzies (D) 2. Purple Ferrari’s Mark Walsh (1) helped the other team out for a short time, while Arki Lewsam showed some great goalie work.

Red Dragons (E) 0 were defeated by Argentina (F) 4, A great team effort from both sides with Argentinians displaying some excellent passing and positioning. Well done to Alex Brien (1) Brad O’Brien (1) Solomon Kennedy (1) and Jake Veech (1).

Under 12s

Chelsea(A) 4 defeated The Team(B) 3, in a great game with Shania Sarsfield (4) leading the way, while Sam Birbiles played well in goals during the first half. Welcome Tori Cummings, in her first game of soccer, who played very well in a close game seeing Claude Lewsam (1) and Charlie Wilson (2) tallying up the score for The Team.

Bumble Bees (c) 1 were defeated by the Purple Flame (D) 7, with Brianna Trappett (1) Bridget Campbell and Maggie Smith playing an outstanding game. Kane Francis WIlliam Cosier, Ben Einhaus and Patrick Veech tried hard all game. Ryan Miller (2) Sean Behsman (3) and Sam Frankham (2) were all on fire for the Purple Flames this week.

Opens

Sea Eagles (A) 5 defeated the Skittles (B) 3, in a great close game with some great teamwork from Spencer Brien (2). He was well supported by Malina Skelly (1) and Fletcher Mostyn. Skittles all played well with Anthony Glawson and Jemma Turner playing well for their first time in the opens. Ngahla Talbot (1) and Brad Reid (1) did well in goals with Cody Hannelly (1) strong up front.

Busy Bees (C) 4 were defeated by the Green Devils (D) 6 in a good game with TJ Bell and Rhianna Sutherland (1) playing well in goals. while George Morley (3) and Keelie Blackhall were all over the field. Green Devils had a a great game first up with only seven players. it was a good game from Brad Bowman (5) with some unselfish play. Matt Duttfield (1) had a strong game in defence while Molly Griggs was strong.

Wellington Warriors Under 10s

The under 10 Warriors were defeated 4-1 by Newtown Saints in a great performance from Georgie Poole, Arki Lewsam and Jacqui Ryan in their debut for the Warriors.

Wellington Warriors Under 13s

The Warriors under 13s had a one-all draw with the Orana Spurs in a much improved performance this weekend with strong performances from Yamirra Talbot, Ryan Miller and Shania Sarsfield. Some outstanding goal keeping in the second half from Matt Duttfield who put his body on the line more than once. Sam Birbiles was close to putting our team in front but took a hard hit in front of the goal unable to finish the game.

Wellington Warriors Under 17s

The Warriors under 17s were defeated 11-nil by SASS Meteors playing short again this weekend.

Western Youth League, Forbes

A great contingency represented our club at the weekend with Brianna Trappett, Maggie Smith, Brianna Trappett, Jade Vernon Lang and Bridget Campbell playing for the Dubbo Devil's Under 12 girls. Ngahla Talbot and Harry Wighton both played in the under 15 boys. Congratulations.

We were especially proud of the Wellington Under 14 girls team who all played exceptionally, with Rhianna Sutherland (1) Yamirra Talbot (1) Keelie Blackhall Ellie Flanagan and new comer Indianna Asamus (1) leading the way in the first game defeating Orange three-nil. There was some fantastic work in the midfield from Malina Skelly Tara Grasnick and Lucy Parkes. Gabby Eather was great in goals while Arlie Clout, Jemma Turner, Tara Miller and Tina Curry were great in defence.

The girls were two-all at one stage of the first half (Rhianna Sutherland (1) and Indianna Asamus (1) against the Lachlan Lions but

tired in the back end of the first half and let their guard down going to the Lions 2-6 loss.

The Wellington Lions 2 were defeated by the RSL 78's 3
