‘Scrappy’ Cowboys come back to win

The Cowboys senior side started off the season with a win of 46/22 against Cobar at the weekend.

“It was a scrappy first half, but they had a good comeback,” spokesperson for the Cowboys Ray Fabar said.

“Ball handling wasn’t up to scratch so we will work on that throughout the week.”

While Cobar is always a hard side to play, Mr Fabar said that he was quietly confident that there would be a win.

It was Mick Gibson’s first game as a front-rower and Aidan Ryan’s first as a second rower.

The reserve grade were beaten by 24/16 and the juniors beaten by 26/16.

Next week the Cowboys will play against Dubbo CYMS in Wellington.

“It was a long trip for the players today and five were out due to sickness and injury so we will have a much stronger side next week,” Mr Fabar said.
