CCTV cameras, the subject of much debate at Bathurst and Parkes recently, are working well councillors have been told at a council meeting.

Cr Mark Griggs, who is on the crime prevention committee, said feedback was asked for and police had advised him the CCTV equipment was working well and was a successful and helpful tool.
“There have been some great success stories with police making arrests from the viewing of CCTV,” he told fellow councillors.
Cr Terry Dray however said there had been a hiccup with the cameras recently, but he was advised they were running well now.
Council’s general manager Michael Tolhurst advised councillors: “There is a regular checking of the CCTV camera operation by our people”.
The councillors were also told the Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) had filled a vacancy for a new police officer.
