Welcome to week 12 of the season. The off stroke for this week is butterfly and the distance is 200m (you must be in 33m fly and 50m free/back/breast).
Thankyou to all those who helped out again on Friday night as I know there were a few people who are usually there that were away at Western Districts in Bourke.
We had a fantastic carnival with all 10 swimmers making it away to the Speedo Sprints carnival on March 11 in Sydney and seven of the swimmers making it away to the James Brophy carnival in Canberra on March 24-25, so congratulations to all those swimmers.
Wellington came 6th out of 12 clubs from all throughout the Western Districts which is a massive effort with only 10 swimmers.
This year saw Western Districts introduce a new trophy for smaller clubs/towns who compete and have less than 92 entries (that means have entered in less than 92 events altogether) and Wellington won the inaugural shield which is just fantastic.
We had a great weekend, lots of fun and many laughs. I would encourage everyone to attend next year as it was a great weekend (it will not be in Bourke next year).
I would like to remind everyone that it is Wellington’s annual swimming carnival this Sunday, The Nat Barton Carnival. We have many entries with more than 70 entries from other clubs attending which is very exciting.
We need everyone to help out please, even if your name is not down on the roster we would love you to give a hand even if it is to relieve timekeeping to give a friend a break.
Good luck to all our members this week and next at their school carnivals and all the best for Sunday, remember to do your best and have fun.
To all the kids swimming at the carnival on Sunday I challenge you to meet someone new from another club and come and tell me their name, where they are from and the colour of their eyes.
We have lots of clubs attending from Warren, Coonamble, Bomaderry, Mudgee, Mudgee Indoor, Dubbo RSL, Dubbo City, Orana Aquatic and Coolah so it should be a great day.
The roster for this week is as follows
Set Up - Dick Morley, Wade Smith, Grant Roberts, Lachy Campbell

A date we need you all to remember is Sunday March 4. This is the Wellington Vintage Fair at the showground.
Every year the Wellington Swimming Club has a barbecue stall. This is our only fundraiser for the year as we are unable to cook barbecues or run our own canteen at point scores every year and for many years the club has made a huge effort and we do our fundraising in one hit - guess what - we need your help.
You only have to give a couple of hours so please keep this in mind.
The other date to remember is our own club championships.
This is where we have like a mini carnival with only Wellington and we would love all of our members to compete. You only compete in your age group.
This is on Saturday February 25. Every child or swimmer who competes will receive a medal or a pennant at presentation night.
Some of the events are held before and after this night – 200mIM, 800m and the 400m (you must have swum in this at point scores at least once this season).
Please take the time to read the swim tips for this week
LAYER 1; SUPERVISION
Who is supervising?
When children are around water, accompanying adults must know who is responsible for direct supervision. Children have drowned at aquatic venues like wellington pool because an adult has mistakenly thought another adult was supervising.
What about groups of swimmers?
Where there is a group of children involved with the water, enough competent adult supervisors need to be appointed. The adults who are supervising must be vigilant water watchers, and must never leave their “post” until replaced by another competent adult.
DID YOU KNOW – that children drowned last year despite pool fences, “supervision by older children, swimming and water safety lessons and floatation devices? These are NOT substitutes for constant supervision by a competent adult. A competent adult should be able to affect a rescue.
