Forbes carnival cancelled due to weather

19 Feb, 2010 09:02 AM
Our trip to Forbes for the Western District AIF Championships was very enjoyable.

It began at the Bedgerebong Picnic Races on Saturday with the dress theme being Fluro - most members participated in this theme with some very good outfits.

Wayne Rich was most dapper in his pink suit while Neil Miller was also in pink.

Our three girls Tegan, Stacey and Ashlee were very colourful in their outfits.

Then it was onto Forbes for the swimming on Sunday.

Due to the inclement weather the carnival was abandoned however the Forbes Club conducted a social swim with 50 and 100 metre events, 50 metre scratch events for men and women and a 10 person relay.

Our club had success in the 100 metre event with Tegan Miller in first place while Janelle Frappell finished fourth in the scratch event.

Our club will host this carnival next year.

Our trip was completed when we returned on Sunday evening with Charlie Horne making a fine

departure from the bus to the footpath.

Our swim last Tuesday was again well attended with some members who travelled to Forbes unable to swim due to injury or being unwell from the weekend events.

Next week’s barbecue will be at the Dray’s.

Swimming is on again next Tuesday starting at 6pm at the olympic pool.

Results from the last Tuesday swim are as follows.

Juniors

25 metres: first Brooke Donnelly 0.03, second Kirsty McCarroll 0.28, third Melissa Frappell 0.50.

50 metres: first Melissa Frappell 0.28, second Paris Cargill 0.38, third Brooke Donnelly 0.41.
