10 Mar, 2010 11:38 AM
I am sorry I missed last Friday’s paper I hope you all have had a great week last week especially to all those swimmers who were swimming at school carnivals.

A great carnival was held at Geurie last Saturday, February 27, with many Wellington swimmers tearing up the pool - the dolphin Irwin sisters, Catherine Kitch, Alex and Cate Brien, Katherine Kitch, Aiden Bestwick, Bridget Campbell, TJ Bell, Tyra King, Jacquie Ryan, Ethan and Jakob Styles, Henry Ponder, Nick and Brianna Trappett, Katie Jefferies, Liam Brien, Ollie Whiteley, Lucy Edwards, Jason May, Mathew Powyer, Maggie and Will Smith to name a few.

Wellington came away with a swag of medals – well done to all the swimmers and all the mums and dads who took their children to the carnival.

Our swimmers travelled to the Gulgong carnival on Sunday - we hope they all swam well and had lots of fun.

The Vintage Fair was on Sunday, this is our major and only fundraiser. Many thanks to everyone who helped out setting up on Saturday and at the fair on Sunday, your time is very much appreciated.

A special mention goes to Charlie Horne who cooks a mean chip and helps out all day every year at the Vintage Fair for the club.

Could people let Ru Hunt or I know if you would like to continue training and what days.

It is coming to the end of the season so we need to work out appropriate training days. After this week there are three more weeks of point scores. The pool closes at Easter.

Presentation night is on Saturday May 8 at the Wellington Soldiers’ Memorial Club, so put that date in your diaries please.

A big ye-hah for the day and thank you this week to Kim Brien for all the work she does behind the scenes as our club treasurer – this is a very important job counting all the money.

While eating bread and honey, Kim does a great job and is a wonderful treasurer, thank you Kim.

Congratulations to all those clever children who went up last week in freestyle and fly and the week before in backstroke and freestyle, you are our champions of the future.

Stroke correction will not be on this week.

A special mention to our three swimmers representing Western Region in Sydney this Saturday Mathew Powyer, Meg and Maggie Smith – good luck swim hard and have fun.
