New coach confident he can lead Redbacks to ANFD cup

New Redbacks coach Chris George is confident.

So confident, in fact, he predicts Wellington can wrestle the 2012 Australian National Fields Day (ANFD) rugby union cup from the mighty Yeoval.

“I think we can win a premiership this year or be close to it,” the manager at the Wellington Caves, and now boss at the Redbacks, said.

“Fitness will be the key to this victory.

“It is the reason why Wellington weren’t finishing.

“We train three times a week and twice a week we go to the Market Fitness gym.

“The youth of this area is being

transferred into quality talent and it’s my job to make sure I provide the guidance.

Club president David Grant believes the old Blowes Cup coach will add that extra zing Wellington requires.

“I think this will be good season under his leadership,” Grant said.

“Chris brings a commitment and focus to the tea.

Placing ambition ahead of talent is certainly not on George’s mind.

He believes Wellington can shock the Mudgee and Yeoval teams.

“We do have the talent to expose them,” George said.
