Organisers of the Geurie Cup are confident the track will be OK for tomorrow’s huge day which is promising to be a big one.
“Stewards walked the track and say, even with the rain that has fallen, it’s only a dead five so we’re OK,” club president Scott McKinnon said.
“The track holds the rain fairly well.”
Geurie’s local hero, Antidotes, will have the services of Mitchell Korn and the formline, going back to its last placing, is good.
It finished third to True Jeune, the Parkes Cup winner, and has drawn nicely at barrier six.
Mr McKinnon will be watching the race carefully, supporting Peter Harrow the local owner of Antidotes but also his father who has One Last Shot in the Geurie Cup.
“I think it will go OK,” he said.
“Dad has another horse in on the day as well. So there’s every chance.”
Our shire can also boast ownership of former great league star Terry Fahey and the former Wellington Test winger has Snowy On The Tram, who is on his second run back from a spell.
Carry the Dance, aged 11, is also facing the starter.
The field has a capacity of 10 with an emergency.
