String of successes proves good karma

String of successes proves good karma

Catering has become the forte of the Wellington lady golfers after carrying out a massive task of supplying lunch to more 130 golfers at the WDLG

annual general meeting on October 23.

They then turned around five days later to serve a tasty barbecue with salads and sweets to 73 visiting golfers who travelled from across the west to take part in the Wellington Ladies Open Tournament last Wednesday.

Played under idyllic conditions peppered with much chatter and laughter, Wellington golfers led by President Marilyn and Captain Denise pulled off another successful day and should feel very proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to all concerned, this includes several men, who also gave up their time to help make the day a success.

Special mention goes to Margaret Grimmond who of

late has been very disgruntled with her declining golfing

ability and was contemplating hanging up the golf sticks for good.

Deciding at the last minute to front up for her last open tournament, Margaret went home with a truckload of trophies after scooping the pool in her division. Well done Maggie!

Now that you have recaptured that old zip we know you will be part of the action for a long time yet.

We salute Judy Roberts for gaining the Medal of Medals honours for 2009 over Pauline Potts who found herself ‘out for the count’ at the conclusion of the day but not without a sustained effort.

An 18-Hole Stroke Captain’s Day and the final tallying of the Es and Gs is to take place this Wednesday.

Meals On Wheels is set down this week for those who volunteer for this worthy service.

Keep breathing!
