Sport for whole season

17 Dec, 2009 08:32 AM
No matter what the season is, golf is the sport that never ends.

As the year draws to an end, most sports have their holidays and will start up again in the new year.

Golf however, is the one sport which lasts all season.

The 4BBB stableford event ran on Saturday with federal starters and sponsors for the day and many in attendance.

The Keirle’s Pharmacy summer competition was also played with 16 teams in round five. The Maulers versed the Puppies, Stagg’s Tiling took on Daffy’s Ducks, Barmen battled Untouchables, Westrac and Sectra 9 knocked heads, Old Fellows versed Studs, Bogeymen played against Printer’s Devils, Dirt Diggers took on Goodsorts and Council Workers played the Federal.

Despite the hot weather, a large number of golfers are still competing in the events and more importantly, socialising at the same time.

Following the presentation and AGM recently, the top players for each section were named. A Bullock won the captain’s shield individual match play handicap, and the Cornish trophy four-ball match play handicap went to R McMahon and N Cosier. G Watts and D Wilson took out the president shield four-ball match play handicap and the Thompson trophy 4BBB stableford handicap five rounds went to K Cusack.

A grade champion went to B McCarthy, N Cosier won B grade and R Pedron took out C grade.

The Golf Club is also encouraging people to become a member for the new year. To find out more about costs contact Al at the club on 6845 2130.
