Ryan shoots impressive round to win medal

The December Monthly Medal took precedence at Wellington Golf Club last Saturday in conjunction with round four of the Keirle’s Pharmacy Summer Competition.

David Ryan had an impressive net 64 to win the medal for A Grade with James Cusack runner-up with 68. Geoff Walker took out B Grade with a net 66 and Rod Irwin in a return to form came in runner-up with 67.

Other ball competition winners were Robert Ridley, James Armstrong 68, Ian Manning, Michael Cassidy (in a rare Saturday appearance), Chris Ridley, Neil Hollow and John Gersbach all with 69, Paul Hannelly, Robert Baker, Wayne Lang and Peter Bryant 70, David Wilson, Matt Shephard, Fletcher Ivey, David Naveau, Peter Payne and Joshua Bullock all with 71.

The Ron Stubberfield Toyota Terrific Tee Shot winners were Fletcher Ivey hole three, David Ryan hole eight, Ab Towney just nine millimeters short of an ace on hole 14 and Ben McCarthy hole 16.

Paul West won the McDonald’s Biggest Whack for A grade while B grade went begging as no-one kept their shot straight enough to stay on the fairway.

Reid Armstrong took home the Bradman with a net 91.

A special welcome to Jamie Hunt who played his first game on Saturday. Barry Jeffery won the raffle and Jim Armstrong the schooner.Handicap changes are many from last week and include James Armstrong 29 to 28, Rod Irwin 18 to 17, Chris Ridley 18 to 17, Robert Ridley 15 to 14, David Ryan 7 to 5, Geoff Walker 15 to 14, Col Arnold 22 to 23, Bill Bright 14 to 15 and Jamie Hunt 23 to 24.

Tomorrow’s event is a 4BBB stableford with Federal starters and sponsors for the day.

The Keirle’s Pharmacy Summer Competition went to round four last Saturday.

Daffy’s Ducks defeated Maulers 4 up, Bogeymen defeated Westrac 2 up, Barmen defeated Unknowns 3 up, Printer’s Devils defeated Council Workers 2 up, Dirt Diggers defeated Old Fellows 2 up, Federal defeated Goodsorts 6 up, Puppies defeated Untouchables 4 up and Stagg’s Tiling defeated CCC Golf 1 up.

Daffy’s Ducks are leading the Keirle’s Pharmacy Summer Competition thus far with 21 points, Barmen have 20.8, Dirt Diggers 16.8, Stagg’s Tiling 16.6, Goodsorts 16.4, Federal 12.8, Montefiores Maulers 12.7 and Untouchables complete the top eight with 12.7.

The draw for round five is Maulers v Puppies, Stagg’s Tiling v Daffy’s Ducks, Barmen v Untouchables, Westrac v Sectra 9, Old Fellows v Studs, Bogeymen v Printer’s Devils, Dirt Diggers v Goodsorts and Council Workers v Federal. Next week’s event is an individual stableford with Federal being sponsors and starters.
