The putting competition has finished for the year with Joe Ryan taking home the grand prize.
The round robin came down to 16 players battling it out late Friday night, with Ryan taking out the top spot, and also being the new favourite among the other players.
Described as “the best golfer in Country NSW” by fellow golfer Stephen ‘Chicka’ McCarroll, Ryan was surprised by his win.
“There was a bit of competition on Friday night,” Ryan said.
“Everyone wanted the TV and it got a bit competitive.”
His prize of a Samsung 42-inch plasma television has made him the new club favourite, with many saying they were going to be watching all the major sporting events on his new TV.
Publicity officer Colin ‘Wok’ Sheridan said Ryan was the “top dog”.
“Joe won the final on Friday,” he said.
“He has come out to be the top dog.
“This year is the second year it has been running for and we can’t wait until next year.”
The competition proved to be popular, attracting about 300 people over the course of the season.
“We will probably start next year’s competition around March next year,” Sheridan said.
“It’s a very popular Friday night out; it only costs $20 to play.
“And with that you get a steak and veggie feed afterwards.”
Some highlights of the season included seeing how much some of the players had improved.
“Well Jupiter (Ben McCarthy) has trimmed down a bit in the months leading up to the final,” Sheridan joked.
“It has been a very successful season and a lot of good players have showed what they’ve got.
“One player to look out for next year is Stephen ‘Chicka’ McCarroll.”
