The event, which attracted 49 starters, was sponsored by the Wellington Soldier’s Memorial Club and was won by Malcolm Payne with a plus 4.

Mitchell Spradbrow was runner-up with plus 3. He was followed by Luke Brydon, Mac Harvey, Alan Ritchie, Colin Sheridan and David French plus 2; Kevin Whale, Geoff Walker, Lewis Payne, Chris Wolfrey, Joe Ryan, Garth Watts and Ron Frappell plus 1; while John Donnelly and Fletcher Ivey had a square.

Ben McCarthy won the Ron Stubberfield Terrific Tee Shot on hole three, Lewis Payne on eight, Malcolm Payne 14 and David Naveau 16.

Ben McCarthy won the Naveau Earthmoving nearest the pin in two on the 12th.

Lewis Payne won the McDonald’s Biggest Whack of 277 metres for A grade and Neil Miller just 87 metres for B grade.

Matt Gersbach’s minus 7 won him the Bradman. Neil Miller won the raffle and Rodney Cunynghame the schooner.

Tomorrow’s event is a four ball aggregate stableford. This is a deviation from the program.

Next Saturday March 6 will be the monthly medal and a qualifying round for the matchplay championships.

Round 14 of the Keirle’s Pharmacy Summer Competition was played last Saturday.

Puppies and Westrac had a square, Old Fellows defeated Daffy’s Ducks 1 up, CCC Golf defeated Goodsorts 1 up, Untouchables defeated Printer’s Devils 2 up, Council Workers defeated Bogeymen 1 up, Stagg’s Tiling defeated Barmen 3 up, Montefiores Maulers defeated Dirt Diggers 3 up and Studs defeated Federal 2 up.

The top eight are Goodsorts 56 points, Federal 53.3, Montefiores Maulers 52.7, Daffy’s Ducks 52.7, Westrac 52.1, Printer’s Devils 44.2, Untouchables 43.7 and Council Workers 43.1.
