The final round of the WGNSW Medal was well supported with 29 ladies teeing off in warm spring weather.
Our annual coring of the greens did not deter the ladies and there were some nice scores recorded.
First division winner was Lorraine Forrest with 70 nett, while runner-up was Min Burge with 71 nett. NTP was Min Burge.
Second division winner was Jenny Barton with 69 nett, runner-up was H Pieper with 71 nett, while NTP was Judy Cullen.
Next week’s event is a Red Cross Charity Day with tee-off time at 9.30am.
The Meals on Wheels roster is for September 22, 24 and 25.
With daylight saving just around the corner the men’s committee is encouraging our younger players (boys and girls aged eight to 15 years) to participate in a five-hole competition on Sunday from 7.30am to 10am.
Anyone wishing to help please let Alan know and a roster system will apply.
Last Thursday our club played host to Western District Ladies Golf Association finals day with an excellent field of 120 players plus.
Players came from across the Western District taking in towns from as far afield as Albert to Bathurst and Coonabarabran to Cowra which was a wonderful response. The Pennant Final between Parkes and Coonabrabran went to Parkes 3-2. Congratulations to both teams for the spirit in which the match was played.
Champion of Champions was Lyn Guise from Parkes in a three-way sudden death play-off which went to four holes and was quite exciting.
Sand Greens Champion of Champions was R Newton of Walgett.
Spoon events were won by Lorraine Maxwell from Parkes with 40 points in division one with runner-up being Gai Devine of Canowindra 39.
Wellington’s Ruth Lay took out division two with 41 points, with Lorraine Forrest runner-up with 40 points.
Division three went to Heather Mewitt of Wentworth with 45 points, while D Martin was runner-up with 41 points.
Congratulations were extended to all winners by Western Districts president Jenny Fagen.
President Fagen invited our own president Marilyn to welcome everyone which she did in excellent style, hoping everyone had enjoyed their day, apologised for the condition of the greens (just a little) and thanked everyone for their hard work in organising the kitchen and on the day - also to secretary Min for organising our lovely raffle.
President Jenny responded - thanking her team for their hard work and support on the day especially our own hard-working Sue Martin.
Many thanks also to our president Marilyn and her helpers for the decorating of the club - well done.
