Players keen to join side wanted

08 Mar, 2010 12:28 PM
With the Dubbo soccer competition starting on April 4 we need to confirm our representative teams.

Numbers have declined this season and we need confirmation of children wanting to play.

Anyone, male and female, aged between 10 and 17 who wishes to develop their skills and represent our club in the Dubbo competition on Saturday are asked to be at Pioneer Park from 4.30pm tomorrow.

Teams need to be finalised this week and we urgently seek your confirmation.

Please call Jody Chester on 0434 871 378.

Our Wellington committee is dedicated to supporting and giving our local players the opportunity to gain new experiences and develop their skills.

Last season we had three teams in the competition, all of which did our community proud by putting Wellington on the map.

Our under 13s team were the

undefeated premiers and made

the Champion of Champions State titles.

As a result, some individuals are furthering themselves with young Jessica Berryman being selected in the NSW under 13s country team and the Western Panthers.

Other achievers include Ngahla Talbot and Jordan Berryman who have made the Dubbo Devils team for the Western Youth League competition.

Fees for our local junior competition will remain at $50 (with additional fees of about $40 to $50 for each

child playing in the Dubbo competition for the Wellington representative teams).

For new registrations, parents need to ensure their child has black shorts ($15), yellow socks ($5) and shin pads ($5 to $12), which can all be purchased through the canteen.

Like last season, the committee has decided to focus on our canteen profits, which sponsored the children’s presentation in 2008, spending more than $80 on every registered player.

Registration dates: Saturday March 13, 20 and 27 at Pioneer Park from 10am to 1pm.

The committee meeting will be held this coming Wednesday March 10 at the Wellington Soldiers’ Memorial Club at 7.30pm.

New faces are welcome to come

along and bring some fresh ideas to the table.

The aged men’s team trains every Sunday at 6.30pm at Monterfiores, so if you are interested in having a run, everyone is welcome to come and try out.

The committee would like to remind parents again that a few shirts are still outstanding from last season and their return would be greatly appreciated.

See you all this weekend at the soccer registrations.
