The Twenty20 competition is heating up along with the weather after Wellington Hotel Two lost to the Western Riot.
The losing side was all out for 71 runs on Saturday, with the final score being three for 83.
Wellington Cricket’s publicity officer Ron Moore said the game was displaying a lot of local talent.
“Peter McQuillan was on a hat-trick,” Moore said.
“He got four for 18.
“Jeff Hutchinson also got three for two.”
A list of players who hit six sixes has also been made with some of the younger players giving the older ones a run for their money.
“The highlight of the game was probably Jordan Stanley,” Moore said.
“He hit five sixes in 39 innings.
“He is hot on the tail of his uncle Nathan Smith.
“Nathan is ranked first and Jordan is now second in the ranking for six sixes and Will Redfern is knocking on the door with five sixes.
“Jordan also made 39 runs.”
In the other games, Farmers defeated Dubbo, The Lion of Waterloo defeated the Juniors and Geurie defeated Wellington Hotel One.
“The sign competition is running again this season,” Moore said.
“No one has hit the sign yet for the cash prize.”
Next week Wellington Hotel One will verse Farmers, Wellington Hotel Two will
face Dubbo, the Lion of Waterloo will play against the Western Riot and Geurie will take on the Juniors.
