The bus was here on Monday and Tuesday with representatives offering advice on a number of topics including the small business safety rebate, asbestos issues and the newly-introduced work health and safety laws.
Wellington Council general manager Michael Tolhurst said the visit was the result of an alliance which was formed between Wellington Council and WorkCover NSW in June last year.
“The alliance is aimed at developing practical and effective approaches to work, health and safety and injury management through a range of methods,” he said.
“Bringing the bus to Wellington is a result of this alliance and is a fantastic way to provide not only council staff but the wider Wellington community with important information and advice.”
WorkCover general manager of Workplace Health and Safety Division John Watson said the bus was a mobile education resource.
“WorkCover works with businesses and workers to provide up-to-date information and support on a wide range of WHS issues and this bus provides that information at a time and place that suits them,” Mr Watson said.
