Wellington’s list of the top 10 most common surnames has been released by the Yellow and White Pages.
Smith continues its reign as the most common name, followed closely by Jones and Wykes.
Ryan and Taylor were equalsixth, Rich and Parkes equal eighth and Bell, Thomas, ‘illiams and Brown tied for 10th spot.
The Yellow and White Pages directory features locals on the cover in recognition of the contributions they have made to their communities.
Under the theme of ‘courageous Australians’, this year’s directories producer Sensis is recognising courageous people who have overcome adversity
to help others in their time of need.
After receiving nominations from community members for the annual honour, Eugowra resident Jack Barnes was selected to appear on the cover of this year’s Dubbo directory which is distributed to Cobar, Condobolin, Dubbo, Forbes, Parkes and Wellington.
The Dubbo Yellow Pages and White Pages cover for 2009 and 2010 featured Gilgandra resident Gail Naden, who was recognised for inspiring an appreciation of Aboriginal culture through her art teachings at local schools. Ken Borchardt was selected for the 2008 to 2009 edition cover as a result of his work with Macquarie Valley Food and Wine Inc to help promote Dubbo’s food and wine industry.
Robert Edwards from Tullamore graced the 2007 to 2008 cover for his role with Tullamore Inc, playing an integral role in establishing a number of vital community social services.
Distribution of the Dubbo directory started on February 6 and will take approximately six weeks for the directories to be delivered to all households. Sensis also encourages residents and businesses to recycle their old directories.
