Takeover raises questions about projects’ future

08 Aug, 2011 08:58 AM
There are deep concerns and many questions to answer over the future of two key energy projects for Wellington today.

The Narrabri to Wellington Pipeline currently owned and managed by Eastern Star Gas but more than likely to move into the hands of energy giant Santos is at the centre of continuing debate in relation to its route.

Santos Vice president James Balderstone has told the media “If the takeover succeeds, we will be reviewing all projects and looking at the routes for the pipeline’’ he said.

Eastern Star Gas’ Directors have recommended its shareholders accept the buy out offer from Santos. Meanwhile Infigen Energy’s wind farm proposed for Bodangora is still also in limbo as financial options are being looked at, the Times understands.
